So both work but we prefer to build with the OEM 1485 premium sealed u-joint to guarantee a proper fit without vibrations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis driveshaft is heavy duty from end to end and is our most popular Ram 2500\/3500 driveshaft. We use the OEM American Axle cold forged u-joint - the same one that comes in a brand new truck. The Aluminum tubing is 4.6 inch OD Arconic premium aluminum seamless material that is 1\/8 inch thick -- rated for over 7,000 ft\/lbs of torque! It will handle even the heaviest towing loads. Most of the OEM one piece aluminum shafts are only 0.083 inch thick. Some Rams have the smaller 1415 u-joint but we recommend you upsize you this 1485 shaft since the transfer case yoke and flange bolt pattern are the same on all of the Ram 4x4 trucks. The upsized driveshaft will last longer due to the bigger u-joint. In addition, you can upgrade your 1415 or 1485 driveshaft to the 1555 Series 4.6 inch Driveshaft which is the biggest u-joint available for Dodge Ram trucks for the ultimate in driveshaft durability. The transfer case yoke and rear flange pattern are all interchangeable in the 1415, 1485 and 1555 driveshafts to allow for easy upgrades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe driveshaft comes fully assembled, balanced and ready to bolt in. Installation is as simple as sliding in the transfer case yoke and bolting up the flange. You do need to check for clearance issues. The OEM two piece driveshaft is 3.4.6 inch tube and the one piece shaft is 4.6 inch. Our 1\/8 inch thick heavy duty Arconic brand tube is made with an even wall thickness and extra straight from end to end to run vibration free and for incredible torque performance. Some driveshafts with cheaper prices have conversion u-joints that step from one u-joint size to another or greaseable u-joints. Conversion and greaseable u-joints are not as strong as the cold forged solid cross u-joints that we use and have more play. Many of the cheaper shafts have cast weld yokes at each end while ours are USA made forged weld yokes. Some driveshafts with cheaper prices have conversion u-joints that step from one u-joint size to another or greaseable u-joints. Conversion and greaseable u-joints are not as strong as the cold forged solid cross u-joints that we use and have more play. Many of the cheaper shafts have cast weld yokes at each end while ours are USA made forged weld yokes. In fact, every part of our driveshaft from end to end is USA made premium product“ assembled, welded and balanced by our team here in Indiana. You cant compare the quality, durability and life you will get from our driveshaft to other lower cost driveshafts out there.


Required Driveshaft Measurements:

You can place your order today and we will send a follow up email requesting your driveshaft length or your can submit your measurement below. Measure from the transfer case seal to the flat face of the differential where the driveshaft 4 bolt flange mounts. We cannot complete your driveshaft order until we have your driveshaft length.
