U-Joint Style Quick Reference Guide:

The 1710 u-joint comes in two styles; Full Round and Half Round. The half round style u-joint has two bearing plate style caps and two round caps. The full round style u-joint has four bearing plate style caps.

Half Round
Bearing Plate & Round Cap Cross Cap Diameter: When measuring the u-joint cap, measure the bearing cap diameter. If you are measuring the end yoke, measure the width of the opening where the cap sits in the yoke. U-Joint Width: When measuring the u-joint for width, compress the caps and measure from inside of bearing plate to inside of bearing plate or for the round cap style measure from outside of cap to outside of cap. If you are measuring the end yoke, measure from the outside of ear to ear.

Half Round End Yoke	Half Round U-Joint

Full Round
Bearing Plate Cross Cap Diameter: When measuring the u-joint cap measure the bearing cap diameter. If you are measuring the end yoke, measure the width of the opening where the cap sits in the yoke. U-Joint Width: When measuring the u-joint, compress the caps and measure from inside the bearing plates. If measuring an end yoke, measure from the outside of ear to ear.

Measure the semi truck's inter-axle length from center of u-joint plate on the output end yoke to the center of u-joint plate on the input end yoke.
