Outside U-joint Measuring Guide
End yoke outside U-joint

Width:
Measure the u-joint width by compressing the caps and measuring from outside of cap to outside of cap. When measuring an end yoke for the u-joint width measure from inside of tab to inside of tab.  If you do not see a tab as shown, then you may have an inside snap ring u-joint.

Cap Diameter:
Measure the u-joint u-joint cap diameter.  If you are measuring the end yoke, measure the width of the opening where the cap sits in the yoke.

Common Outside Snap Ring U-joint Series Chart

We recommend using a caliper or micrometer to most accurately measure u-joints. U-joint caps must be compressed when measuring the u-joint width. Once you have recorded your measurements, refer to this chart to find your u-joint series.
